I have some of the new Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Summer 2014 collection for you today! There’s 7 in total but being a student, unfortunately I could only afford 4 of them. I picked up the ones I liked the most and they also happened to be the ones that looked similar to polishes from their older collections: Elderberry, Kiwi, Coconut and Damson. I love how the Gellies all have fruity names 🙂
First up I have Elderbery, which is a lovely cornflour blue colour. It’s a great formula – applies easy and dries fairly quickly. Photos show 2 coats, no topcoat.
I thought this colour looked similar to Blueberry, which I already owned so I’ve swatched this, using 2 coats, next to it on my ring and pink fingers. Elderberry is more of a grey-blue so it’s not the same at all.
For those of you who think it may be similar to other colours in Barry M, and at first I thought so too, I’ve compared it to Greenberry (index finger) and Guava (ring finger) – both with 2 coats. As you can see they’re not the same or similar. Bottle shot shows Guava, Kiwi and Greenberry.
Coconut is a lovely pale cream/off white. I love this colour, it applies smooth and easy BUT possibly is a 3 coater because it’s a light colour but it dries pretty quickly so this isn’t really a problem for me.
Lastly, we have Damson, a beautiful cream blue. This is my favourite I think, it applies so well. If my pinky looks a bit patchy I think I forgot to apply a second coat! The rest of my fingers have 2 coats on, no topcoat.
So there we are, as you can see, they’re definitely shiny, as promised and like the previously released formulas.
What do you think of them? You can find these in Boots and Superdrug now.
