I wanted to share my ‘Winter Hand Care Essentials’ with you today. Obviously I take care of my hands and cuticles all year through but in the colder months I feel I need to pay extra attention to dry skin! I actually have pretty bad circulation too, so this probably doesn’t help.
You may be looking at this picture and wondering why I have 2 hand creams and 2 cuticle balms/oils… well let me explain. I’ll take one of each in my bag for uni/work/wherever and the other 2 will sit on my bedside table for use at home.
Soap & Glory Hand Food is my bedside table hand cream. This is the full size version (125ml) and it has the ‘Original Pink Fragrance’ from the S&G range – the one I remember from way back when they first became popular in the UK – which I would describe as a sweetened musk. It’s not an overpowering smell which I love. It leaves my hands super soft without making them greasy – bonus. This costs just £5 and lasts me quite a while, you don’t need to use too much. I actually have the pump version in my bathroom too, next to my Wash Your Hands Of It, so I can moisturise straight after washing my hands. It’s slightly more expensive at £7 but you get double the product and it’s exactly the same formula and scent!
And this is the one I keep in my bag: Endless Glove. It has a different scent to Hand Food, it’s more fruity and woody and is called ‘Fruitigo’. I don’t dislike it but I definitely prefer ‘Original Pink’. This is the mini version with just 50ml of product and it costs £3. The full size version is more expensive than Hand Food, at £6.50, but I think this is down to the fact it can be doubled up as a hand mask by just applying more of it and slipping on some cotton gloves and letting it sink in! I have done this a couple of times and it leaves me hands super soft. You can of course use it as an every day hand cream, so I pop it in my bag for on-the-go.
I actually love all (the ones I’ve tried) S&G products, including their shampoo and conditioner, shower gels/creams, body scrubs, moisturisers for both the face and body and I once had one of their perfumes! I really rate the company and you can often buy their stuff in Boots on 3 for 2. I always ask for them as a gift too, like on my birthday or at christmas. They actually have a huge range of gift sets out at the moment, so you could probably get a pretty decent deal.
I have actually reviewed Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream before, in my first ever blog post! If you want to see how I have (or haven’t!) progressed you can read it here. This is actually the same pot and that was back in May! I have hit the pan but there’s a tonne of product left – it’s surprising how far 15g of cuticle cream can go! I love anything lemony so that’s what got me interested in it. I also love how much it helps my cuticles it leaves them soft and malleable. They do get quite dry and considering it’s winter now I need to pay extra attention to them. It’s actually quite a thick ‘cream’ and I prefer to use it at night before I go to bed to let it all sink in. It doesn’t leave your skin particularly oily or greasy but you do need to be careful with how much you use and you need to make sure you either rub it in or let it soak in before touching anything you don’t want to mark. This little pot costs £5.99 from Burt’s Bee’s own site… but I know you can get it cheaper elsewhere; it’s always worth checking Amazon for these things.
Bliss Kiss™ PureNailOil™ has to be my favourite product for cuticles… ever! I’ve done a pretty intense review here, so you can check that out if you want all the details and facts! But this is amazing and it’s so small you can just pop it in your bag or even your pocket and apply it whenever. It soaks in super quick and despite it being made of all natural oils, it surprisingly doesn’t leave your skin feeling oily! This little tube holds 2ml of oil, it doesn’t sound like much but that would last me a couple of months and that’s with a couple of applications a day. You can buy a refill pack that includes this applicator and enough oil to refill it 7 more times (!) from Nail Care HQ for around £13 ($19.99).
So there we have it, my in-house winter must-haves AND my on-the-goes!
