Hello!
I’m back! Sorry I’ve been away so long I just needed to take a break while I sat my final exams for university and completed my course. I find out my degree results in 2 days so I’m pretty nervous about that but I’m back to blogging now! At first, it may not be as regularly as before my blog-break, instead, I’ll be posting once or twice a week.
*This was meant to be Swatch Sunday, but I didn’t get round to writing it in time… oops.
So today on my one-off Swatch Monday I have two of the new (ish) Barry M Speedy Quick Dry Nail Paint from the first release of pastel colours in Lap of Honour and Eat My Dust. I know they were released a while ago and now they have added 6 more colours to the original 9 but I, obviously, haven’t been blogging so despite owning these for a good month or so I haven’t been able to share my views on them. Barry M’s description is:
I’m going to review this statement and see if it’s correct. Let me apologise in advance for the change in lighting but I was using natural light which isn’t very reliable in the UK.

First of the two is Lap of Honour which is a stunning pastel lilac which is one of my favourite colours for nail polish. As you can see the brush is different from the old Barry M square brushes, it is wider and rounder which for me is much better for my nail shape so I really do embrace this change. This colour had perfect coverage after 2 coats, as advertised, and it really does dry at ‘lightning speed’, well… less than 1 minute. It’s great for a quick mani and you can add a topcoat or matte topcoat to finish it off although I don’t think it particularly needs it if you don’t need it to last for days as it already has a nice shine to the finish. I do find that with a topcoat it can last for at least 3 or 4 days with minimum wear.

Eat my dust is a gorgeous soft pastel blue that I could easily wear all year round. The brush is the same, of course, but I found the formula to be a bit thinner, I show it with 2 coats but it could have done with a third. This isn’t really a problem because it dries so damn quickly. I’m actually surprised at just how quickly it does dry, I didn’t think it would be great as I’ve bought ‘quick dry’ polishes before and been disappointed. Barry M have obviously mastered the correct formula.
I love both of these. I love the formula, the brush and most of the colours of the collection. I will definitely be purchasing some more on payday! One thing I will say is that I prefer the original 9 colours released – the soft pastels – and I’m not so keen on the additional 6… but they are what Barry M claim so that’s a good thing!
You can purchase these polishes at:
• Barry M – who currently have 10%
• Boots and Superdrug – who both have a ‘Free gelly when you spend £6 on selected Barry M’
