I’m sharing the Aquarium Collection with you today, even though the first 6 colours were released in Spring 2014 and the last 2 in September the same year. This is going to be a picture heavy post… be warned.
The Collection consists of 5 duochrome polishes and 2 shredded glitter toppers and 1 different glitter topper. The swatched each of the duochromes using just 2 coats and used 1 coat of the shredded glitter over them. Now, over on Brit Nails Allie said that they’re best swatched over a black because they need up to 3 coats otherwise but I find that just 2 coats are perfect for me – she does say it’s personal preference though!
Caspian is a warm gold/rose gold duochrome, you can see the pink tones more in the bottle rather than on your nails though.
Mermaid is blue, green and gold shards of glitter, shown here over Caspian.
Mediterranean is a yellow gold/pink but looks kind of coppery on the nails.
Arabian is one I have swatched before back when they were first released! It is a green/blue duochrome that mostly looks olive green on me. I found it really hard to capture the duochrome on camera on my short nails – I think a bigger surface area is needed!
Pacific is a double blue duochrome with the darker blue leaning towards indigo/purple. It looks so different on my nails though.
Treasure Chest is a mixture of different toned gold shards, swatched over Pacific.
Persian is a purple/gold duochrome and might be my favourite of the lot.
Atlantis is different to the other glitters as the glitter pieces are shaped in silver hexes in 2 sizes, blue and purple diamonds and the pink ones are a strange shape I’m not even sure how to describe, 1 coat over Persian.
I’m sorry I can’t capture the duochrome very well on my nails, I swatched these a while ago when my little nubs weren’t growing, so there wasn’t much space to show the shift!
