Today I have some more velvet lip lacquers to share with you, this time they’re from MUA. I decided to pick up 3 of these from Superdrug because I couldn’t choose just 1! I also have a few other bits that I picked up from the same brand which I will quickly review after the lip lacquer swatches.
This is a nude-brown shade with red undertones which I think is a great nude for my skin tone.
This is a colour I never thought I’d buy but I was feeling daring and I think it paid off. Zest is a gorgeous bright coral red that really pops – perfect for summer!
Another bright one – this time it’s a fuschia/magenta colour which also have a summer-y feel to it.
Can I just briefly mention the packaging? I love that the glass is frosted. With some of my other lip products that are in a tube I have difficulty remembering if they’re matte, cream or gloss in finish , especially if I haven’t used them for a while and this really helps distinguish it. The application of all 3 of these was pretty decent. They applied well without being streaky and dried very matte. I also found that they were very long wearing and they didn’t flake very much, unlike the Makeup Revolution ones I swatched. They can be purchased from Superdrug or MUA for just £3!
The rest of my purchase included a few eye pieces and a lip liner.
Undress Me Too
This gorgeous 12 shade palette came free with my purchase due to Superdrug’s offer – free when you spend £8 on MUA. I was drawn to the golden and copper shades but I wasn’t too convinced on the quality, that is until I swatched them. They are very creamy and look at that pigmentation! That’s just one swatch layer! I can’t wait to try a look with these shades. This normally costs £4.
Eye Define Felt Liner – black
I love using felt liners to do a winged eye, I just find them easier to control than other liquid eyeliners. It’s a lovely opaque black which dries matte and won’t feather like it does on my arm when on the eye. They only do black though so I’d like to see them branch out to some bolder colours. It cost me just £2!
Eyebrow Pencil – blonde
This blonde colour is a good match for my eyebrows and I find that pencils, rather than powders, are best for helping to define the brow. It’s soft and creamy to apply so you don’t have to dig it into your skin to get any kind of colour pay off and I forgot to photograph it but it has a brush on the other end to help soften the look if it’s too harsh. The only thing that confused me is that it had a slight pearly/shimmer to it whereas I’m used to matte pencils for my eyes but to be honest it doesn’t make my eyebrows sparkle. i.e. it’s not noticeable on! Once again there’s notch colour variety as it’s available in just 3 shades: blonde, brunette and black but it only costs £1 and the colour matches me so I won’t complain.
Anti-bleed Lip Liner
This is a great purchase. It’s a clear lip liner that can be used with any colour to prevent the colour bleeding or smudging. It applies creamy so, again, you don’t have to press very hard to the product to apply and it really does work (so far). I wore a dark lipstick out about when I was shopping the other day and when I got home after 3 or 4 hours it hadn’t really bled at all and the colour was still pretty much intact AND this was on a colour that bleeds normally. I think I will be using this a lot so I’ll definitely be making a repurchase and for £1 I would highly recommend this product, especially if you can’t afford the higher end alternatives.
Hope you enjoyed this MUA review – I’ll definitely be buying some more colours from the velvet lip lacquers.
