MUA Velvet Lip Lacquer Swatches
I know I swatched a couple of the MUA Velvet Lip Lacquers not long ago but then I found a bundle of 8 on their website for £20.00. I then got £4 off of that price so in total I saved myself £8 as they’re normally £3 each – a bargain as it is! I really liked the formula for the price and they have a load of different colours. I now own 9 of them but there are 9 more on their website to choose from. You can also find them in Superdrug, in-store and online.
The set included a little makeup pouch and 8 shades of the Velvet Lip Lacquers: Tranquility, Zest, Vivacity, Reckless, Moxie, Symphonic, Kooky and Potency (used to be Potent). Now I already own Moxie and Zest, which is where the fun part comes in as I’ll be running a giveaway from today (9th of July) until I 1.75K on my instagram account. The giveaway will be over on instagram, which I know might be annoying for those that don’t have it but it’s currently the easiest way for me to keep track of entries because I don’t have a lot of spare time on my hands! I’ll show you the swatches first and then give you more details on the giveaway…
All of the shades have the same doe-foot applicator as pictured, which is quite small and narrow, perfect for applying liquid lipsticks. Tranquilty is a lovely peach toned nude which I could see my self wearing in the day. It applied well and doesn’t look streaky at all.
ZestI’ve swatched Zest before in a previous post and is the first of the two colours I’m giving away. It’s a gorgeous bright coral-red and is an amazing summer colour. Again, the application is great with this one.
A bright popping pink, that normally isn’t my thing, but I think it kind of suits me… don’t you think? This is one of those colours that I’m never really sure of because it seems super girly, which I don’t do! Another one with smooth and pigmented application.
Being a true bright red, which I always find difficult to apply, this was the trickiest out of the colours so far. I just find that if you try and correct the mistakes you end up with smearing of red pigmentation but it doesn’t stain when you remove it! In fact none of these colours do.
MoxieThe second colour I already own and also part of my giveaway! (don’t worry you’ll be receiving brand new, wrapped lip lacquers – I swatched Moxie and Zest using the ones I previously owned). This is a lovely fuchsia/magenta(!?) colour which I think would be great for both summer and winter because it is slightly on the darker side rather than a popping colour.
SymphonicSymphonic is a blue-based purple that turned out a very different colour on my lips than to the swatch on my arm! It looks very very blue based on my lips but not so much in the previous swatch.. I don’t know how I feel about it! I don’t understand how it looks so different either…It was also kind of hard to apply as it wasn’t very pigmented so I got some thinning of colour towards the lip line, especially on my top lip. This can easily be rectified though by better application.
KookyIsn’t this a beautiful plum purple!? This might become a favourite of mine, especially in winter as I love a dark lip. Application with this shade was better but not the best, you can still see some patchiness but I find that with darker colours this does tend to happen.
Potency Black, Potency is black! Love it and hate it too. I feel like I’m too pale to wear black lipstick and what do I wear it with? But I love that it’s black…The application is difficult because it’s so dark, not because of the formula.
^^Can I pull black off!? ^^
Here are all the shades I own! From top to bottom we have Potency, Kooky, Symphonic, Moxie, Reckless, Vivacity, Zest, Tranquility and finally Halcyon – which you see swatched in my previous post.
Time for the giveaway! Head over to my Instagram and look for the following photo for details on how to enter! Good luck 🙂
