This post has been a long time coming. If you follow me on instagram you would’ve seen my post a while ago where I did a Makeup Revolution haul and today I’m going to share some swatches of a few of the main products. The image on the left is what I purchased myself and on the left is what was in the Mystery Bag that was sent out with all orders over £30 a while ago.
Today I have something I haven’t done before and that’s go through my nail polish collection and see which ones match the Pantone Colour of the Year. Now this year they have chosen 2 colours for the first time and I like both them alone and together, so let’s take a look at what I could pull out of my collection.
Today I have some new nail polishes from the I Heart Makeup products over at Makeup Revolution – Nail Geek. A while ago MUR very kindly sent me the ‘Magic Collection’ to have a look at, which you can see the swatches for here. I was so impressed I decided to purchase another of the sets – Cool Nails. Once again they cost £5.96 for all 5 polishes – individual polishes cost £1.49.
06 – Peppermint: As the name suggests.. a peppermint colour. 2 coats just about has good enough coverage although some nails could have done with 3 – the formula is a bit on the thin side. Dries well and looks good with both topcoat and matte topcoat.
07 – Dreams: I would describe it as a sky blue. The formula is a bit better and is just about opaque in 2 coats – it could probably used a third on some fingers . It dries quickly too.
08 – Clear Skies. A more periwinkle blue than a sky blue, as it leans slightly purple, but gorgeous all the same. This is a lovely mid ‘blue’ to wear. Opaque in 2 coats and dries quickly once again. The formula is much better than Dreams and Peppermint.
09 – Live Fearless. A gorgeous deep blue thats opaque in just one coat. It doesn’t stain the nail either – bonus. Obviously has a good formula and dries quickly.
10 – Inbetween. A rich, dark teal… one of my favourite colours! Formula is a bit thin but still only takes 2 coats to become opaque. Same as all the others and dries relatively quickly. I think this is my favourite of the collection.
Overall, I’m very impressed with MUR nail polishes considering the price. Don’t forget to check out Makeup Revolution’s site to see the full range of colour options!
Today I have some new nail polishes from the I Heart Makeup products over at Makeup Revolution – Nail Geek. MUR very kindly sent me the ‘Magic Collection’ to have a look at, for all 5 polishes it costs just £5.96 – individual polishes cost £1.49, so you save a little money this way. They cost 49p more than their original polishes but they’re a larger bottle at 12ml, which is incredible for the price! You can see Hopes & Dreams and Promises from the original collection here. Now lets begin with the swatches for the new Nail Geek polishes 🙂 I apologise for my dry cuticles 😦
41 – Magic: A lovely soft periwinkle, a perfect pastel for any time of the year. The formula for this is a bit iffy, on the thick side and difficult to manage, but the colour is lovely and opaque after 2 coats. It does deficiently need a topcoat to smooth everything out and looks good mattified (of course). Another thing I will say about these polishes is that some of them smell a bit funny, this one in particular but that’s usual for cheaper nail polishes especially ones with blue colouring.
42 – Mysterious: A blue based mid-purple, that I like to thing of as royal purple… Formula much better for this one, not as thick and doesn’t smell so strongly. It’s amazingly shiny without topcoat, but using one just smooths out any flaws. Again- looks amazing mattified.
43 – Wisdom. A fuchsia-esque purple. The formula is much better than the first 2 and has a much smoother application! Almost doesn’t need a topcoat… All these polishes work so well with a matte topcoat.
44 – Wealth. A gorgeous deep, blue-based purple with a slight pink shimmer. This was a one coater! If you wanted you could do a second just to remove any streaks in the hammer effect but theres no nail peeking through at all – good. Surprisingly formula isn’t too thick and adding a matte topcoat creates a satin-look finish.
45 – Extravagence. Very similar to Wealth, but it looks slightly darker in the bottle and has more of a pink duo chrome effect. Disappointingly, this one had a very thin consistency, which surprised me considering it’s so similar to the previous polish, and took 3 coats to get full opacity. It does look gorgeous mattified (excuse the wrinkled middle finger) and again is super shiny without a topcoat.
Overall, I’m very impressed with MUR new collection considering the price and I will definitely consider purchasing some of the other colours in the future. One thing I will say about them all is that they dry pretty quickly too. Don’t forget to check out Makeup Revolution’s site to see the full range of colour options!
