I know I’m a bit behind on these ones but I’ve been super busy and have now only just got round to swatching the Barry M Sunset Gels SS16 release.
…and welcome to my final week of my Tipped Off Nail Art Challenge! I made it! I actually did every single day, some of them were, well, half-arsed but I did it 🙂
Day 25 – nautical. My first attempt at nautical nails and I think it turned out pretty good. I used Barry M Cotton for the white, the blue is Barry M Blue Grape, the red is Poundland Blood Red and finally the gold is Barry M Gold Foil. I just painted on the design free-hand with a thin striping brush 🙂 It’s very appropriate for day 25 as the 25th is the day I set sail for the cruise I’m on right now! Yippee!
Day 26 – travelling. Now I’m not sure if you can see but this is meant to be an artistic impression of the world map… I painted on the design in watered down acrylic on top of Barry M Elderberry. Simple concept but not sure it comes across well.
Day 27 – animal. So.. I’m not exactly fond of animal print so I decided to do something not many people do… giraffe print! I used the ‘blobbicure’ method where I painted on my base of Barry M On Your Marks (Swatch up this Sunday 😉 keep an eye out) and then added the final coat of the same colour and while it was still wet I ‘blobbed’ on some of Barry M Cocoa. Simple 🙂 and I love the outcome.
Day 28 – lollipop! Woo how cute. For this I just paint on Rhossili and Cancun alternatively in a circular-isn shape just using the bottle brush, both from the Barry M matte collection, and then used Barry M Cotton for the sticks and shine. I finished it all off with Seche Vite which makes the lollipops even more shiny.
Day 29 – cocktails This was all done using a variety of nail polishes which to be honest I can’t remember them all! and painted on using a very thing nail art brush. I think I used all Barry M including Coco, Cotton, Pole Position, Copacabana, Road Rage, Malibu and Black Multi Glitter.
Day 30 – glitter. I kept this one quite simple just using Pole Position as my base and then taping off the areas I wanted covered and using Lucky Lacquer Tinkerbell (as I said in last weeks post I willl be swatching this glitter collection soon).
Day 31 – celebrations. Last but not least I decided to do celebrations as my final theme to celebrate the fact that I actually completed this challenge! So this is meant to be a champagne bottle popping… can you see it? I started with Barry Black Multi Glitter as the base colour and then the white and green is acrylic paint and the gold detailing is China Glaze Mingle With Kringle – yes a christmas polish but it’s actually not that far away now 😉
So there we have it, my Tipped Off Nail Art Challenge July is complete! I hope you have enjoyed this series and that you’ve been following it all 🙂 if not you can check out the other weeks here: Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, Week 4.
Here are all of the designs:
I’ve actually been asked if I’m doing this again next month (aka tomorrow/August) but unfortunately I won’t be as I’m away until the 15th BUT I may do it in September so keep an eye out and join in if you like
Hello and Happy Halloween! 🙂
Now, I’m not a huge lover of Halloween normally but this year I did a few manis to ‘celebrate’. I have the 3 halloween specific nails I did during October and the one I wore with my Halloween outfit from last night.
First up, 2 that come hand in hand, Jack and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas.
For Jack Skellington I used Barry M Matte Espresso as the base and used white acrylic for the design. For Sally I used a whole bunch of Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine polishes, mostly from their newest A/W collection (which I’ve swatched for you here): Cardamom, Mustard, Chilli, Rose Hip, Huckleberry and Elderberry. I used acrylic paints for the detailing and design.
The next design was inspired by Dexter, which I’m currently binge watching with my boyfriend using Netflix. If you haven’t seen it yet I highly suggest you do. It’s all about a blood splatter analysts that works for Miami Metro Police.. sounds dull? He’s also a serial killer!
As you can see, I used Barry M again for this one, in Coconut. I used acrylic paints for the rest and the ‘splatter technique’ which I showed you in my latest Untried series.
My last design isn’t anything Halloween related, other than it was part of my costume this year, but I really wanted to share it in this post regardless.. I went as Alice from Alice in Wonderland! I love the books and films and my nails had to match the outfit.
The nail polishes used were Barry M Huckleberry, Matt White and Gold foil effect. The black and red detailing is acrylic paints. I finished it all off using a matte topcoat. I absolutely love this nail art and I never want to take it off! But if I want to continue blogging and posting to my instagram I’ll sadly have to.
I’m sorry if you get fed up of me using Barry M all the time but at only £2.99-£3.99 for their polishes they’re so affordable and as I’m a student this is all I can really stretch to. Also, a lot of the time Boots and Superdrug have 3 for 2 or some sort of offer on them which means that around 70% of my nail polishes are Barry M!
I hope you enjoyed these Halloween manicures. I really enjoyed painting them and wearing them this month! It’ll be time for christmas manis before you know it! 😉
I’ll definitely try and post the Untired I missed this week the Monday coming but I’m incredibly busy with Uni at the moment so I apologise If I’m not blogging on a regular basis!
Second post of the day! Sorry I’m trying to catch up! This is just a brief post to show all my blog followers my round up of my September Nail Art Challenge, which I posted on my Instagram. I didn’t do individual posts for these as I didn’t have time. I won’t go into detail but I 99% of the polishes I used were Barry M! I skipped Starbucks because I didn’t have time for that one and I wasn’t fussed on the theme.
So even though I’ve been away from blogging, I’ve still been busy with my nails!
I have day 08 for the August Nail Art Challenge for you today. It’s Gladilous. I tried to do a close up of the flower but failed miserably so went for a view from afar… And a gradient based on this flower picture which I found here
For this mani I used all Barry M products: Coconut, Prickly Pear and Plum. I topped it all off with my new China Glaze Fairy Dust which I absolutely LOVE.
hope you you like it!
